Postgraduate training in Hydrography
As from next academic year, the Antwerp Maritime Academy will organise a postgraduate training in Hydrography.
This initiative will be presented during an Information Session to be held on Saturday 3 March 2012.
ARGONAUT GALA EVENING 2012
The traditional Gala Evening, organised by our student club Argonaut, will take place on Friday 2 March at the Antwerp Hilton Hotel.

Le 17 mars nous ouvrons nos portes de 10.00 à 17.00 h: renseignez-vous sur nos formations, explorez l'unique bâtiment de l'école, visitez les simulateurs et ateliers, faites un tour avec un bateau de sauvetage etc.

Film sessions on Advanced Maritime Ecology
In the framework of our Advanced Maritime Ecology course, 2 film sessions followed by Q&A with experts in the field, will be held at the aula Ortelius at the Academy.
All students, professors and interested parties are welcome.
First session on Monday 27 February 2012 at 19.30 h: Six Degrees could change the World.
Second session on Tuesday 6 March 2012 at 19.30 h: The End of the Line.
The Art of Dredging
Marc Van de Velde, a former student of the Antwerp Maritime Academy, has created an interesting website on dredging.
Marc is a mariner and ship's captain, with 25 years of experience at sea. Most of this experience was gathered on dredgers.
The website (www.theratofdredging.com) has topics on the Captain's Desk, equipment, accidents, meteo and much more. Certainly worth a look!
Open ECDIS Course
There are still a few places available for the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information System) course, which will be organised at the Antwerp Maritime Academy from 16 till 20 January 2012.
This course has been designed to meet the requirements of regulations I/12 of the STCW convention and section A-II/1&2 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model course 1.27.
The course provides training in the basic theory and use of ECDIS for those who will be in charge of a navigational watch on vessels equipped with this system.

Le conseil des étudiants 2011-2012 est installé.
Le conseil des étudiants de l’Ecole supérieure de navigation se compose de 12 étudiants motivés qui veulent contribuer à la création et au maintien d’un meilleur environnement d’éducation.
Le conseil est devenu un moyen indispensable pour chercher des solutions aux petits et gros problèmes des étudiants.
Régulièrement la direction demande un avis au conseil en rapport avec la politique générale de l’école supérieure, en ce qui concerne par exemple la prévention contre la drogue, le règlement disciplinaire et autres sujets.

Réunion anciens étudiants de la promotion 1961
Des anciens étudiants de l'Ecole supérieure de navigation ont organisé une réunion à l'hôtel Scandic Crown à Anvers.
Il n'était pas facile de composer une liste d'invitation mais en fin de compte une vingtaine d'anciens étudiants de la promotion 1961 se sont retrouvés pour un agréable dîner le 19 novembre dernier.
Diving training for our students
In the spring of next year, a diving training session will be organised in co-operation with the Belgian Diving Center, located in Mechelen. Important to know: only students of our Academy can participate!
An information session will be held at the Academy (Ortelius hall), on Tuesday 15 November at 12.30 h.
