2nd Corrosion and Fouling Symposium @Antwerp Maritime Academy

Saying that our 2nd Symposium on maritime corrosion & fouling was a complete success is certainly not besides the truth.  The Antwerp Maritime Academy has an important interface role between fundamental university science and the practical minded shipping world, and the symposium reflected this: following the trail of our 2017 edition, we aimed to make state of the art science accessible for our very heterogeneous public. And the speakers delivered: the program provided insight in the two topics of the day, by discussing toxicity of antifouling coatings, long-time modelling of corrosion, accelerated low water corrosion, inspection of coatings and corrosion...

The audience - approximately 100 participants with ten different nationalities - delivered as well. Both industrial and academic in origin, always listening enthusiastically, and offering by moments a very sharp discussion. The presence of a lot of students, not only from the Antwerp Maritime Academy but also from other universities, shows that young people still can be fascinated by the sea.

The food was great, the location the best in the whole city of Antwerp.

See you next time, in 2021?
