The IMLA-International Maritime English Conference (IMEC31) took place in Turku and Åland, Finland, from 29 September to 3 October 2019.
5th International Conference on Ship Manoeuvring in Shallow and Confined Water with focus on manoeuvring in waves, wind and current.
Roy Peters (Master student Nautical Sciences), spent a month in Turku (Åbo), Finland, where he carried out research at Novia University of Applied Sciences’ maritime facility (Aboa Mare).
Covering the fundamentals of Maritime Law.
Antwerp Maritime Academy organized a 10-day workshop about the development and calibration of Arduino air quality monitoring systems in close collaboration with the Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas (Santa Clara, Cuba). The workshop took place at April 15-26, 2019. A Belgian delegation of 3 co-workers and 6 students of the Antwerp Maritime academy went to Cuba to follow that workshop. It is part of the ongoing AIR@PORT project where both institutes are working together to analyse the air quality in the port city Cienfuegos using cheap monitoring systems.
Corrosion and fouling are two major problems affecting all shipborne commercial activities. National and international experts will present overviews about current evolutions, challenging case studies and new possibilities of state-of-the-art monitoring systems.
